I've observed over the last year more and more digital media channels focusing on our young generation and specifically addressing their strong desire to realize their dreams and live their passions. This goes from blogs that encourage you to leave your 9-5 jobs, numerous sources of advice for people starting business, and also stories about how to live this new lifestyle.

In my opinion this is the new media aspect of the newly born "passion industry" and we at Sandbox (connecting the most inspiring people that make things happen) and Holstee (creating fashion for people with passion) are definitely part of this phenomenon. The major themes in the "passion media" seem to be: entrepreneurship, quit your job, global citizenship, travel, social entrepreneurship, self improvement, focus, spirituality, new definitions of success. I wouldn't be surprised if there are already magazines and TV shows in this field. Any inputs?

Sandboxer Jun Loayza from LA (himself a great blogger about this subject) just recently sent me a list of inspiring blogs in this field. More to come from Jun about this very topic soon ;-)
A great example is also Marissa Shrum's venture http://ifweranit.com/ which is going to be live soon. It seems that this kind of media is most often (and best) provided by people from the target group itself.

Couldn't agree more. The best advice comes from people who can relate to the aspirations and priorities of the target audience. Nothing inspires more than stories from people who are out there making it happen. Have never heard it called the passion industry before but understand exactly what you mean. Great post thanks...
I think this list is relevant too - http://www.freepursuits.com/44-creative-and-adventurous-bloggers-you-should-know - Happy Christmas

Escthecity, thanks a lot for the link about the 44 creative and adventurous bloggers, suits perfectly to this! Re the "passion industry", it's a term I just made up so it doesn't officially exist (yet :-).

I had a quick look at your own project http://escthecity.com/, I like it! Keep me posted about it and maybe we can feature it on Sandbox www.sandbox-network.com once you launch. Merry Christmas!
